We think valerian is the cat's meow, not only because cats are wickedly attracted to it, but because it is one of nature's great relaxing herbs. Valerian is an extremely popular herb in Western traditions and its use for occasional sleeplessness was first recorded by Greeks in the second century. When we don't feel like counting sheep all night, we love this calming blend of valerian root, passionflower and lemon balm for its relaxing effect and its pleasant taste.
EACH TEA BAG (1.5 g) CONTAINS:
Organic valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) | 450 mg |
Organic passionflower herb (Passiflora incarnata) | 300 mg |
Organic lemon balm leaf (Melissa officinalis) | 300 mg |
Organic peppermint leaf (Mentha x piperita)
Organic caraway fruit (Carum carvi)
Organic licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) |
Pour 240 mL freshly bold water over 1 tea bag in a cup. Cover cup and steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Gently squeeze the bag to release the remaining extract.
Adults: Adults: drink 1 cup 3 to 4 times late in the day and 30-60 minutes before bedtime.
Caution: Consult a healthcare practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen, or if sleeplessness persists continuously for more than 3 weeks (chronic insomnia). Consumption with alcohol, other medications or natural health products with sedative properties is not recommended. Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have gallstones, anaemia, or a liver disorder.
Some people may experience drowsiness. Exercise caution if operating heavy machinery, driving a motor vehicle or involved in activities requiring mental alertness within 2 hours of consumption. Hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use.
