Warm up this winter by sipping on some Hot Chocolate that's actually good for you!

The benefits

  • Raw cacao powder is high in antioxidants and isn't loaded with sugar like most commercially available pre-mixed hot chocolate powders.
  • Coconut oil will help boost your energy to keep you and the kids outside longer, enjoying the beauty of Canadian winters.

Ingredients

2 cups coconut milk
2 tbsp raw cacao powder
2 tbsp raw honey
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/4 tbsp cinnamon
pinch of Himalayan Salt
Optional add-ins: Goji berries, maca powder, hemp seeds

Directions

  1. On low heat, warm coconut milk on stove top.
  2. Place heated milk into blender.
  3. Add cacao, honey, coconut oil, cinnamon, and Himalayan salt (plus optional add-ins).
  4. Blend for one minute.
  5. Pour into two mugs and enjoy!

I have 1 bullet-proof coffee in the morning which is the only caffeine I drink… think I will try this as a substitute. I looks and sounds delicious.
I’ve been reading your blog with great interest. I’ve been sick and tired of feeling sick and tired for 30 years and still working on trying to find the right solutions for me. About 3 or 4 years ago, I did the Whole 30 for 7 months or so… I lost minimal weight; had glimpses of what it’s like to feel ‘great’ but overall didn’t provide me with the solution I need. It did teach me how to read labels though and to eliminate processed foods from my diet. I try to keep carbs to a minimum and sugar at bay but still use it in small quantities in cooking. I’m retired so have the luxury of making most of what goes in my mouth, including all bread products, some pastas, dressings and condiments. I have lot abt 32 lbs in the past 14 months primarily from cutting portions and ‘sort of’ intermittent fasting. I no longer eat at night and I have no sugar cravings at all (a good thing since I like to bake for family & friends). So it sounds like I’ve found the answer but alas, not so. Still seeking so perhaps you can see why I’m so interested in your blog/journey. I also have been seeing a naturopath regularly since the mid 90’s. Progress has been made in some areas but definitely not all. I live in Ontario so I’m not able to go to the clinics but I plan to contact NitriChem to see if I can order the testing online in order to get personalized supplements specifically for my needs – think this will be very beneficial both from a health and financial perspective. Now I’m back to reading the rest of your blog! Good luck going forward and thanks!
