[This is Part 4 of the series called From Bump to Baby, and Everything in Between! that outlines a NutriChem Mom's guide to the best products at each step of her pregnancy journey.]
By the end of the series, you'll have learned about:
[Part 1] The Belly! (The 8 Products That Will Revolutionize Your Pregnancy)
[Part 2] The Bag! (Pack a Delivery Room Bag That New Moms Everywhere Will Wish They’d Packed)
[Part 3] The Body! (Post-Pregnancy “Fun” Times: Help for Breastfeeding, Scarring, and GI Issues)
[Part 4] The Baby! (11 Products for Baby that You Won’t Want To Leave Home Without)
Kate here again! I’m a NutriChem staff member, and a new Mom of a healthy, almost 1-year old girl. I received so much valuable information from people while I was pregnant and since becoming a mother that I just had to share some of it. My hope is that reading this blog series has helped you in your own journey “from bump to baby”. As always, please consult your health care provider or baby’s health care provider before using any of these supplements or products. I checked with my OBGYN and my ND for myself: you should too!
When using anything on or for my baby, it was extremely important that what I was giving her was “clean” i.e. was not full of additives, sugars, artificial colours, preservatives or any harmful toxins. At NutriChem, any product that we bring in goes through a series of checks to make sure it is suitable for our customers and clients, so I didn’t have to do any homework before I used a product purchased from there!

Jackson Reece Kinder By Nature Unscented Baby Wipes
Almost immediately after bringing our daughter home from the hospital, she started to get a rash on her bum. We had been using what I thought were “clean” wipes, but we ended up having to wipe with damp baby cloths when they continued to irritate her. Then I discovered these wipes, which really are “Kinder by Nature.” They’re 100% biodegradable, compostable, chlorine-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, organic and hypoallergenic. Once we started using these wipes instead, my daughter’s rash went away. A nice bonus is that they also didn’t affect me: I have very sensitive hands plus eczema, so using something non-irritating for my hands is fantastic!
Babies’ skin is so sensitive, and when my daughter got a little rash under her neck I wanted to make sure that what I was putting on did not further irritate her. I did a little patch test on her with the cream to make sure she didn’t react to it. Then, I waited 24 hours, and once I was certain it wouldn’t irritate her further, I applied it on her rash. It helped get rid of the rash’s redness and bumpiness. I have used calendula numerous times on various little rashes that my daughter has gotten, and it seems to help with dryness, redness, itchiness and inflammation.
While many friends and family members had told me about life with a newborn, I feel like nobody told me or stressed enough about baby gas and colic discomfort! Before we introduced solids I used these probiotic drops for ease of just dropping them in my baby’s mouth. My daughter seemed to enjoy taking them and it seemed to help with some gas discomfort she was experiencing.
Genestra HMF Baby B Probiotic Formula
Once we started feeding my daughter solids, I found it easier to mix in a dose of the HMF in cold purees or in water. This product does not contain wheat, starch, gluten, soy, artificial colouring, flavouring or antimicrobial preservatives.
Delicious D Vitamin D3 Drops – Baby
These unflavored 400 IU per drops are very easy to just drop onto a baby’s tongue. Vitamin D supplementation for babies is very important as they are most likely not going to be getting much direct sunlight in order to make any. Vitamin D drops help in the development and maintenance of bones and teeth, helps with absorption of calcium and phosphorus, and of course helps to prevent Vitamin D deficiency. These drops are 100% naturally sourced, free of additives and artificial preservatives.
Boiron Cocyntal Ampules for Baby Colic
These little ampules could be found all over our house during the first few months of our daughter’s life. Our daughter loved taking these and it seemed to help with the number one baby issue (in my opinion), which is baby gas. (I didn’t eat any cauliflower for months due to the discomfort it would cause my daughter after feedings).
Nature’s Aid All Natural Skin Gel
This gel is more for me than my daughter as it has been amazing in helping with the ten fold more burns that I have gotten since having a baby (sleep deprivation injuries?). This gel’s ingredients are all plant based or naturally derived, and it contains witch hazel, vitamin E and tea tree oil. On a family trip to Florida, I brought a travel size bottle just in case we got burned, bit by bugs, or developed any rashes.
Carina Organics Baby Lotion
To say I am obsessed with the Carina Organics products would be an understatement. From their cutesy bottles, to showing their certified organic ingredients by colour, it is easy to see why this product line has been growing in popularity! The baby lotion is unscented, synthetic free, biodegradable and certified organic. I find myself using it on my own sensitive skin because it is so nice! My daughter seems to like her post bath massage with this moisturizing cream as well (I know I’m creating a little diva).
Carina Organics Baby Shampoo and Body Wash
To continue my obsession with this brand is this gentle, tear free shampoo and body wash. The “free of” section is just as important to me as what is in the product, and this shampoo and body wash is: synthetic free, tear free, hypoallergenic, cruelty free, vegan, 100% biodegradable, paraben free and dye free. It is ever so lightly scented with organic sweet pea essence and leaves baby’s hair soft and smelling amazing.
Spry Kids Tooth Gel with Xylitol
It seemed like overnight my daughter went from having one half tooth to about 45, and I was panicked about what to do with keeping those teeth healthy and cavity free. I also realized that although she will eventually loose her baby teeth, she will have almost ten years with these teeth: so we wanted to start good teeth hygiene now! The good news is that my daughter loves brushing her teeth. We bought a silicone BPA free baby tooth brush and apply a smidge of this tooth gel on it to brush her little teeth. You can also apply to a pacifier as well. The natural bubble gum flavored gel is safe to swallow, fluoride-free and can be used aged 3 months and up.
Hylands Baby Teething Gel
With all of our daughter’s newly sprouted teeth came teething pain and grumpiness. This homeopathic teething gel contains no benzocaine, artificial flavours, dyes or parabens, and has been a relief for everyone in our family. I apply it to her gums with my freshly washed hand to help with the pain (caution: teething babies can be biters!).
I hope you found this series helpful in your own pregnancy and new-parenthood journey! As a reminder, I consulted my health care practitioners before I used any of these products. Please consult with your health care provider or baby’s health care provider to see if any of these supplements or products are right and safe for you!
