Cold & Flu Bath Salts - A DIY Christmas Gift to Yourself and Others

Cold & Flu Bath Salts - A DIY Christmas Gift to Yourself and Others

NutriChem’s orders! During your time off this holiday season, run a hot bath and pour this lovely concoction of salts and oils into the flowing water and allow yourself to melt into a stress free zone for at least 20 minutes. You’ll thank us!

You can use either Epsom salt or sea salt in this recipe, but we at NutriChem recommend Epsom salt. Epsom salt can help ease the pain of many different health problems. Such as:

  • Arthritis pain and swelling
  • Bruises and sprains
  • Fibromyalgia, a condition that makes your muscles, ligaments, and tendons hurt, and causes tender points throughout your body
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Insomnia
  • Psoriasis, a disease that causes red, itchy, scaly skin
  • Sore muscles after working out
  • Soreness from diarea during chemotherapy
  • Sunburn pain and redness
  • Tired, swollen feet

Eucalyptus essential oil is a great oil to use if you're sick because it is a natural decongestant, and the vanilla extract will help relax you and make everything smell even better! The vanilla extract is up to you, but does make the recipe smell incredible!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Epsom salt or sea salt

  • 1/2 cup baking soda

  • 3 drops eucalyptus essential oil

  • 8 drops vanilla extract

  • Food colouring if desired

Just mix all of the ingredients well and store in a container. If you use food colouring, it could stain plastic containers, but it won't stain your tub or your skin.

Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup per bath when you have a cold or flu.

This recipe is the perfect relaxation DIY for yourself, or you could make it for a friend! Buy a decorative mason jar or container, add a Christmas bow and there you have it!
