The first week of 2018 is slowly coming to a close. How are you feeling about your health- post holidays?
A late night out with some drinks and sweets may have warmed your heart and put a smile on our face, but now your body is saying “Hey! Take care of me!” There’s good reason for this. Alcohol and sugar drain us of our electrolyte minerals, B vitamins, and inhibit absorption of healthy fats… partly of the reason that you’re craving that greasy breakfast. It also does a number on our microbiome!
Time to move forward: How do we recover and replenish? This smoothie recipe is a great way to pack in some much needed fluid, minerals, fibre, probiotic bacteria and healthy fats! Not to mention that it’s delicious and tastes like vacation. Here’s the recipe!
- 1 Cup Coconut Milk
- 1 Tsp Coconut Oil
- 1 Tbsp Shredded Coconut (unsweetened)
- 1 Cup Chopped Pineapple
- ¼ Lemon Juiced
- 1 Cup Fresh Spinach
Optional:
- Probiotic or kefir (grain, coconut or dairy)
- Protein Powder (unflavoured and unsweetened)
As always, you can tailor any recipe to your taste. If you like your smoothie more or
less thick just adjust the liquid. If you don’t have spinach, use any other greens. Either way, enjoy and feel good!
