Psyllium Husks are a bulk-forming laxative useful to provide gentle relief of constipation and irregularity. This product can help to promote bowel movements by increasing bulk volume and water content. Soluble fibre from psyllium husk, when used as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and lower cholesterol levels.
Medicinal Ingredients - each level teaspoon contains:

All ages: Maintain adequate fluid intake. Take 2 hours before or after taking other medications. Effects observed 12-24 hours after first dose, and may take 2-3 days. Do not swallow in dry form.
Adults and Adolescents 13 years +: Take 4 tsp 2-3 times daily. To prepare, stir 4 level tsp (4.8 g) into at least 250 ml (1 glass) water, juice or milk, stir briskly and drink immediately.
Children 6-12 years: Take 2 tsp 2-3 times daily. To prepare, stir 2 level tsp (2.4 g) into at least 125ml (1/2 glass) water, juice or milk, stir briskly and drink immediately.
For lowering cholesterol (Adults): Take 3-4 tsp 3 times daily. To prepare, stir 3-4 level tsp (2.4 g) into at least 125ml (1/2 glass) water, juice or milk, stir briskly and drink immediately. Take preferably before meals.
Caution: Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or if laxative effect does not occur within seven days. Consult a health care practitioner immediately if you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking medications which inhibit peristaltic movement. Do not use if you have difficulty swallowing or if you have diabetes mellitus in which blood sugar is difficult to regulate, or if you are experiencing a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for more than 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, or failure to defecate following the use of another laxative product. Hypersensitivity, such as allergy, has been known to occur following inhaled and/or ingested psyllium; in which case, discontinue use. May cause temporary gas and/or bloating.
